Version 1.5 offers the following new features:

  • CMYK-to-RGB conversion via the ToRGB method. You can now create Web-viewable RGB thumbnails from CMYK images in JPEG and TIFF formats. To achieve good color reproduction, ToRGB uses International Color Consortium's color space conversion schemes commonly known as ICC Profiles.
  • Ability to obtain the number of color components of an image via the property OriginalComponents. This property returns 1 for grayscale, 3 for RGB, and 4 for CMYK images.
  • Ability to retrieve and set image resolution. The original image resolution can be obtained via the properties OriginalResolutionX and OriginalResolutionY. To set a new resolution, use the properties ResolutionX and ResolutionY.
  • Read/write access to individual pixels of an image via the default property Pixels(x, y). This property allows you to set or retrieve the array of color components for a given pixel.
  • Support for progressive JPEGs via the property Progressive.
For more information on these new features, see Chapter 8 of the user manual. Upgrades are free for registered users. Your existing registration key will be recognized by this version.

Aug 13, 2004 - AspJpeg 1.4 Released

Version 1.4 offers the following new features:

  • TIFF support. In addition to JPEG, GIF, BMP and PNG formats, AspJpeg now supports Tagged Image File Format (TIFF) widely used in document imaging and digital photography. A variety of compression algorithms and color spaces are supported, as well as multi-image TIFFs.
  • EXIF and IPTC support. You can now extract various pieces of information embedded in JPEG images by the digital camera, such as shutter speed or metering mode. You can also access text metadata inserted by Photoshop, such as image title, copyright information, etc.
  • Grayscale method added which turns color images into B&W.
  • New method added to create blank images of arbitrary size and background.
  • Canvas.GetTextExtent method added to calculate the width of text strings to be drawn. This feature is useful for text alignment and positioning purposes.
  • Font.Quality property added to control text anti-aliasing.
  • OriginalFormat property added returning a 3-letter image format code such as "BMP" or "TIF".
  • PreserveAspectRatio property added. When this property is set to True, changing the width or height of an image automatically adjusts the other dimension to preserve the original aspect ratio of the image.
  • The Canvas methods Arc, Bar, Circle, Ellipse and Line are renamed into DrawArc, DrawBar, DrawCircle, DrawEllipse and DrawLine, respectively. The old method names are still supported for backwards compatibility.
Upgrades are free for registered users. Your existing registration key will be recognized by this version.

This web site is also your user manual. Here you can find all the information necessary to have AspJpeg up and running in no time:

  • User Manual describes the features AspJpeg has to offer.
  • Object Reference documents the properties and methods of all objects.
  • Live Demo demonstrates key features interactively online.
